About Us
Just like my father, I have been involved in the hospitality industry since I was a child. I admit, sometimes it’s challenging, but when I see the satisfaction of our customers, the effort is worth it.

Our Story, Our Beginnings
Our history dates back to the distant year of 1958, when father Ivan and mother Cilka started their first hospitality business in Duplje, in the Gorenjska region. After three years, they opened their first inn at the current location. It was a simple, homestyle inn where they served their guests traditional homemade dishes such as blood sausages, pork sausages, dry-cured salami, dry sausages, pork spread, aspic, liver, brains with eggs, and many more.
The beginnings were tough, and the inn as it is today is the result of a tremendous amount of effort and many sleepless nights. Father Ivan grew all the food for the guests himself. Many times, slaughtering had to be done even during the night.
The hard work paid off, as the inn soon became well-known and was visited not only by local firefighters, police officers, and workers from nearby factories, but also by high-ranking officials and guests from surrounding areas.
With the help of family members, word about the inn quickly spread.
Father Janez still nostalgically remembers how, as a child, he helped in the inn after school and served guests, even though he could barely see over the table at the time. In 1990, he and his wife Nada took over the management of the inn and significantly expanded the menu. Today, our restaurant offers not only the traditional dishes prepared by our grandparents but also all kinds of steaks, vegetarian dishes, seafood, and game meat.
A Modern Approach with a Touch of Tradition
Just like my father, I have been involved in the hospitality industry since childhood, and I took over the management of the inn in 2018. Alongside constantly evolving with modern culinary trends, I strive to maintain the highest quality and the warm, homely atmosphere of our establishment. While offering contemporary dishes, we will also continue to preserve and serve authentic traditional food. Throughout the year, we offer hearty meals such as stews, traditional Slovenian dishes like žganci (buckwheat spoonbread), gnocchi, štruklji (rolled dumplings), croquettes — all made in-house, of course.
Our main principle is high-quality food preparation, which is why most of our ingredients (turnips, cabbage, potatoes, eggs, flour, etc.) come from local farmers. Much of the meat, game, and fish we use is also of Slovenian origin. In our menu, you will find homemade pies, cake pops, brownies, chocolate mousse, sweet fantasy desserts, panna cotta, and more. We proudly highlight our homemade pies, which are famous far and wide, and it’s thanks to these desserts that we expanded into new ventures — our bakery grew and developed the brand Domače pite (Homemade Pies).
Our breakthrough came through catering. Today, we provide top-level catering services for the most demanding clients. Whether for protocol, business, or private events, weddings, parties, or celebrations — we cater for groups ranging from 20 to 800 guests across Slovenia, delighting them with consistently excellent service.
Our story is now wonderfully complex, yet our guiding principle remains simple: quality food and friendly service are at the heart of everything we do. This is my passion, and it’s shared by everyone involved in the story of our inn. I am grateful that our guests appreciate this and keep coming back. Our relationships go beyond business, and I warmly welcome you all: welcome back to our home, friends.
